More than two decades ago, two teachers were chatting casually in the St Joseph classroom. They talked about life, love and family relationships. But little did they know that their discussion would lead to creating one of Guyana’s most notable pageants.
As the bell rang to signal the end of the lunch break, Ingrid Fung and Gwen Wiltshire were sure that they had found something to bring joy and entertainment to the entire family.
“The Mother and Daughter Pageant had its genesis at the National Sports Hall in 1990, and it grew and blossomed over the years. Today it is one of the most prestigious events held at the National Cultural Centre,” Ingrid Fung declared in an interview with Guyana Times Sunday Magazine.
